The Consortium was conceived in summer 2003 by the leaders of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, UC Health (formerly Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati), TriHealth, Inc. and the University of Cincinnati with the idea that together they could accomplish more - for themselves and the Cincinnati neighborhoods where they are located—by working together.
Through intensive community outreach involving key Cincinnati neighborhood, civic and institutional leaders, consensus was reached on issues where Consortium members and the surrounding community have shared needs and opportunities. These issues include public safety, transportation, housing, and community development.
Through the Consortium’s efforts, over $400 million in redevelopment, new construction and neighborhood improvements has been invested in Uptown Cincinnati including the Cincinnati Herald building and adjacent Burnet Avenue Parking Garage in Avondale and the Hampton Inn Hotel and Garage in Corryville. Understanding the importance of building community relationships, the Consortium prides itself on community collaboration and engagement.
