Upscale Subway Restaurant Coming to Herald Building

The Avondale community will soon be able to cure their sandwich cravings at a Subway that recently began construction in the Herald Building.

However, those expecting the typical Subway sandwich shop are in for a surprise, as this is no ordinary Subway. The 2,000 square foot restaurant will have upscale finishes such as fireplaces and comfortable seating for customers. It will also offer catering services to area businesses and organizations.

“This site is perfect for Subway to introduce its unique new concept to the area,” said Franz Stansbury, Uptown Consortium director of real estate development who leads the Subway/Uptown partnership. “It makes sense that a restaurant featuring fresh food in a well-designed space would want to locate in Avondale—a community that has been intentional about putting healthy habits on its neighborhood agenda for years now.”

The new restaurant is expected to open in August at 3440 Burnet. Don’t forget to bring your appetite!
