In June 2004, nearly 100 Uptown leaders and residents attended the first Uptown Summit, held at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. The Consortium and its advisors provided the initial results of studies in the areas of safety, housing, retail and transportation. For nearly two hours, the attendees discussed these findings and offered feedback. As a result, the Consortium made some very important alterations to its planning, including the addition of education as a key focus area.
In July 2004, the group reconvened for Uptown Summit Two at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden. The Consortium’s report included an overview of how its strategic direction had been altered by the community input, a further update on the studies underway in Uptown, and the beginnings of an implementation strategy. There were nearly 150 stakeholders at Summit Two.
In April 2005, the group reconvened for Uptown Summit Three. The Consortium’s report included an overview of the process for branding Uptown Cincinnati and for creating a sense of place among its communities. Summit Three was attended by 125 community stakeholders.
